A small but mighty group of Bruisers arrived at the Rose Bowl to challenge the Deep Space Cadets. One can only assume that the remaining Bruisers were busy as delegates at the Democratic convention or perhaps as protesters dressed as bunnies outside of the Staples Center. (Hmmmm - where was Renaud last night???)
The Magnificent 11 were: Nancy, Scott, Andy, Jes, Garson, JohnK, Dave, Amy, Anders, BobbyJoe (welcome back!), and MaryBeth.
Fans: Karen (injured reserve), Jesse, Ellie, Cassie, and Simon

The game was marked by no startling plays - and no fresh bruises. Anders hit the only home run and MaryBeth made two nice snags at pitcher to get the runner at first. Jes made two good plays at second, including a putout from the outfield when she somehow convinced the runner to return to first on a force play. Garson caught Don C's fly ball in the sixth. Many of the spectators beat the heat by using water bottles as portable showers and all missed their playing companions, oreo and cookie.
Dinner at Baja Fresh was attended by: JohnK, Amy, Anders, Nancy, Scott, KarenC
With the Democratic convention not 20 miles away, the dinner crew discussed the question most on the minds of Americans - who will win on "Survivor". Next week's discussion will center on who would be voted off the island first: Al Gore, George Bush, Pat Buchanan, Ralph Nader, "none", or "other".
Next week's game is Wednesday August 23 on field H3 against these same Deep Space Cadets. Missing next week will be: Andrew, Andy, and possibly Nancy. Everyone else please be sure Karen knows whether to expect you or not. This may be the last real game of the season since the team that is scheduled for the week of 8/28 has had a very rough time getting a full team to come out all season long.
