'Twas a beautiful afternoon for a softball game, and both teams showed up with plenty of players for an almost-on-time game start. The Bruisers took the early lead, but unfortunately fell apart in the third inning and were unable to come back enough to hold the Crawdads off in the fifth to lose by one run. Our season record with the Crawdads stands now at 1-1. Too bad the sprinklers that came on during the game to soak the cars parked along the meridian didn't come on at the playing field!

Defensively we did okay, although several of us experienced the woes of holey gloves and/or bad bounces. The first inning featured a Jes(2B)-Bob(1B)-Leo(3B) double-play for the first two outs, and then Leo(3B) made a great throw to Bob(1B) to get the third out. While Steve was one of the holey glove victims in the infield, he made plenty of key outfield catches, including the first and second outs in the second inning, plus (if memory cells are working) one each in the fourth and fifth innings in the outfield. Steve also got tonight's wickets award.

Offensively, we had home runs by Eric and Bob, and a triple by BobG. RBIs were earned by Pat (2), Eric (5), BobG (3), Doug, KarenT, and Shaunna. (Hmmm... not a lot of game notes tonight... what do P4 and P5 mean?)

Our next game is Thursday August 26 against the Fringes. We'll be home team again on field H7 (corner/sewer; same as last night). Everyone please me sure I know if you're coming or not.
