August 19 vs. LA Radars


Bruisers Largest Playing Crowd of the Year: KarenC, Scott, Andy, Jenny, JohnK, Andrew, Nancy, Kenny, Brendan, Kathy, Mikael, Mary Beth, Anders (Bruisers debut), Gretchen, Dave, KarenT, Rhiannon, and Steve. BobbyJoe also appeared, but in the uniform of an LA Radar player.


Largest Turnout of Bruiser Cheerleaders (I think): Jesse, Ellie, Cassie, Simon, Skye, Barb, Kindra, Bethany, Emily, and Max.


Largest Dinner Crowd of the Year at Fuddrucker's where Kenny won the award for the Largest Meal: Beth, Emily, JohnK, KarenT, Jill, Andy, Steve, Gretchen, Max, Scott, Karen, Marc, Kenny, Jenny and Brendan.


Recruiting kudos of the game go to Mikael for bring us Anders, who had so much fun he actually wants to come back and play some more!

It was a somewhat abbreviated game, lasting only 5.5 innings, but enough for the Radars to stay ahead of our last-minute charge for the lead. We were mercied in the fifth(?) inning, but managed to end the game out of the mercy rule. Defensive dazzlers included some great plays, including a Scott-John pass to get a runner going to third, and a high jump by Andy at first to catch a ball from short and land before the runner arrived. Offensively we did pretty well, getting some sharp hits to take advantage of occasionally spotty outfielding. Home runs were hit by Scott, Brendan, and Anders who just kept on running and running after he hit the ball, confusing the Radars enough they eventually threw the ball out of the playing field out of frustration. RBI were knocked in by Scott (2), Andrew, Kathy, Mikael (2), and Anders.


Next game is Wednesday 8/26 on field H3 against Planet X. They're a tough team, so everyone be sure to get there early to warm up. So far I only know we'll be missing Scott (so DON'T look for him when you're looking for our game -- he will be on H2 for the Homer's game!). EVERYONE please be sure I know whether or not to expect you so I know if I need to go hunting up more players.


I'm still waiting on confirmation of the date of our last game, so reserve Tuesday 9/1 and Thursday 9/3 until I find out for sure. I'll let you know as soon as I know. Our opponent will be the TBDs.
