Ouch! Tonight we initiated the Bruiser bag with a bandaid to Juan, and an ice pack to KarenC(P) after she took one on the chin (literally) when a hard ground ball to the pitcher took a bad hop and nailed her during the last inning. Less painful highlights include Ron's(1B) nice catch of a looper at first, then his attempt to get both the 3rd and 4th outs in the second inning. In the third inning Jes(2B) forgot what game she was playing (at least it wasn't golf!) when fielded a ball and then bowled it to Pat(1B) in time for an out. A great play that inning was Mandell's(SS) leaping snag of a hard line drive. The fourth inning featured a good heads-up play from EricG(SS) to BobG(3B) to cut down the lead runner, and then a good fielders choice play from Ron(1B) to EricG(SS) for that inning's second out.

Randy gets a Sneaky Feet award for coming home on ScottM's single in the first inning. Mandell was robbed of a beautiful hit which made Turkey SS Mark jump to catch it. Ron almost got a Sneaky Feet coming home, but after a while we figured out that he had been tagged for an out. KarenT was cut down at second base when ScottM sent her from first to end the fourth inning rally. ScottM himself was victim of a slightly controversial call when it appeared that the third baseman didn't actually touch third base to force him, but over it, but it got called an out. We had no home runs or triple, but plenty of singles and doubles. We batted almost all the way through the lineup (missed three people) in the fourth inning. RBIs were earned by KarenC (2), ScottM (3), Juan, Pat, DaveS, Rob (2), EricG, Andrew, KarenT (2)and BobG. RBIs didn't get marked in for the second inning, but I'm guessing they went Nancy and Andrew (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Simon gets the "whatta kid!" award for taking the game ball that was going to be signed for KarenC over to the guy who hit the ball that struck her and making him sign it first.

Our next game is next Wednesday, August 31. We'll be the home team against the Titans on field H9 (fountain). We'll be missing a lot of people, including myself, so Nancy is in charge. Y'all be good to her. She'll send out the reminder, manage the game, and do the Bruiser Replay afterwards. People missing are Douglas, KarenC, Linda, ScottE, BobbyJoe, Jes, Fabian, and probably Ron and/or Ann. Everyone else who can possibly play please be sure to let Nancy know.
