It was a cheesy-poofs (thanks KarenT) day which saw the Cadets came out ahead in the final Bruisers-Cadets immunity challenge of the year. Let me congratulate us all for not stampeding Round Table when we found out their big screen tv was nowhere to be found for the Survivor finale. :)
Despite the Cadets pitcher being confused at what game we were playing (bowling, or perhaps cricket?), we did fairly well. Defensive highlights included a great play between Bob and Marc to get that speedy Chen guy, Renaud catching Don's fly ball in right field, a great running catch in left field by Scott in the fourth inning, and a good heads-up plays between Bob and Shaunna to get a runner at second and by Anders to force out a runner at third. Offensively, home runs were hit by Anders and Earl for two runs each, Mike hit a triple, RBIs were knocked in by Scott (2), Anders (2), Jen, Mike, Amy, Earl (2), and BobbyJoe, and Shaunna was robbed of a hit in the fifth inning. Cadet Jackie gets some kind of award for holding on to the ball despite having Earl run up on her at full height trying to scare her away from second base.
Our final game is Monday August 28 against the IR Sox on field H2. I believe we'll be missing Earl, Andy, Shaunna, and possibly JohnK, Marc and Andrew. Everyone please let me know if you plan to be there or not.
The end-of-season party will take place after the game -- location TBD. I've been waiting all day for the IR Sox manager to call me back on if he thinks he'll have a team on Monday, so until you hear otherwise, assume we'll have a game like normal on Monday, and come out to play!
