Things looked really really bad in the beginning, but it turned out to be your average wild C League game with some huge oscillations in run scoring, and it was fun. The game went really long due to the total run count and the excessive number of pitches sometimes needed to get hittable balls. The only injury in the game was the Fringe pitcher who twisted his ankle in the fifth inning and had to leave the field. Total Bruiser hospital count for the season is: Bruisers 0, Opponents 3.

It kinda looked like last Friday's Dodger game as Bruiser pitchers had a really tough day with at least four throws to first base ending up out of play. A couple of big misplays in the outfield gave the Fringes at least two home runs. On the other hand, we did have some really good plays, too. In the second inning Dave(OF) made a nice catch and throw to Doug(3B), BobG(SS) caught a fireball line drive, and Pat was able to make a really tall stretch to pull in a high throw from Andrew(3B) to get the runner in the third inning. Ron(SS) started all the outs in the fourth inning, even after the Fringe runner tried to run him over. Juan(LF) and JohnD(CF) made great outfield catches in the fifth inning before we got lost finding that elusive third out..

We showed some really great hustle on the bases with a couple of runners alertly scoring from third while Fringe defense was otherwise occupied. Dave got our only home run in the game, altho' it was actually a home run scored on a Fringe error (he got all the way in on his at-bat so yeah, we call that a home run!). Eric and BobG hit triples. RBIs were knocked in by KarenC (2), Ron (3), Eric (2), Ann (2), BobG (2), Dave (2), JohnD, Jes (2), Andrew (2), Shaunna, Anders, and ScottE.

Our next game is some time next April 2003. Stay in shape, and hit the batting cages in the meantime. Have a safe off-season everyone!!
