Well, there are only two words that can sum up tonight's game... but I'll leave it to the individuals playing and spectating to decide what those words should be. We knew we were in big trouble when the first two X batters hit home runs. On the good side, however, we did not get blanked in any at-bat, and we did manage to keep the X from scoring any runs in their fourth inning. The game was shortened due to a) the run differential, b) the setting sun, and c) the fact that the Planet X half of all the innings had taken a long time AND they took forever between innings to warm up or get batters up.

Offensively, we did pretty well, despite half of us only getting one at-bat tonight. Out of 18 batters, 15 got at least one hit. Home runs were hit by Andy, Steve and Brendan. RBIs were knocked in by Andy, Steve, KarenT, Brendan (2), Kenny, Marc, JohnD and Bobbyjoe. The "keep running" award goes to Anders for sneaking into second base when the fielders didn't expect him. Defensive highlight of the game was Brendan's awesome catch in center field, a DP involving Steve, Marc and Jenny, and a good line drive snag by Andy on the mound.

We should have been double-mercied in the third inning, but due to an addition error on the X scorekeeper's part, that inning-ending double mercy was achieved only in their minds and they left the field one run short. Bruiser scorekeeper Nancy thought they were wrong, but their scorekeeper insisted, so we let it stand (they did eventually figure it out). We never actually fell a full 20 runs behind any time during the game. But, we caused enough stress on the X third baseman in the fourth inning that he made the ball go out of play... twice.

Our next (and last) game will be next Tuesday against the TBDs on field H2. We are the visiting team. I know we'll be missing Marc and Andy for sure. Everyone else please be sure I know if you're coming or not. Party plans have not been finalized, but if all else fails, we'll go to a large-group-friendly restaurant and party there.

See you Tuesday!
