We were given the taste of mercy twice, but who cared? It was a beautiful afternoon, we had a ton of players and spectators, we won by forfeit anyway, and we were on our way to a great garden party. Gamewise, we did pretty well except for the 2nd inning which went on forever. Offensively, everybody got at least one hit, including the Bruisers who played for the Radars. Kent got our only home run, and RBIs were earned at least by Karen, Jes, Mike (2), Kent (2), Mary Beth, Yves and Peter (sorry, not all the RBIs got marked in and I'm not so good at figuring out who got them by looking at the score sheet). Defensive efforts were highlighted by a Jes-Pat out of a runner at first and a couple of fly ball catches. Doghouse points were earned by Steve when he hit a fly ball to left field over Jenny's head, and by Steve again when he hit a blooper to center field -- again right over Jenny's head at short field.
Later at the Chez Morrisson Garden Aquatic Centre the close of the Bruiser's debut season was celebrated as Bruisers both big and little became fishes. We were also entertained by pictures of exotic cats, dined on burgers, hot dogs, salads and baklava (yum!) and a fun and relaxing evening was had by all. We also bade farewell to Yves who will return to France soon... but has promised he'll come back to play next year. (He did do that, didn't he??)
Next game... sometime next April. I will try and schedule some off- season play time and batting cage practices so we don't get slovenly or forget each other before next season, and so we can meet the newest Bruiser, baby Redding, who is scheduled to arrive soon.
See you soon, and thanks for coming out to all the games!
Karen
