Man, that last inning took forever! Despite the Turkey's surge in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bruisers managed to hang on to win the game and end the season with a 10-7-1 season (count 'em!... it's gotta be the shirts!). This is the first winning season we've had since the birth of the Bruisers in 1997.

Defensively, we held our own pretty well (okay, except for the fifth inning). The first inning was all Pat(1B) with feeds from Karen(P), Jes(2B) and then Ron(SS). In the second inning, Lyna(SF) made a great stretching/leaping snowcone catch of a ball that was WAY over her head. In the third inning, Amber(SF) made a great running catch for one out, then later in the inning was able to recover a dropped catch and toss it to Jes(2B) to get the runner who overran the base. The fourth inning went quickly with catches by Steve(LF) and Fabian(RF), and then a good toss from Lyna(SF) to Shaunna(2B) for the third out. In the fifth inning, the Turkey bats woke up and they started hitting them farfarfar... yeah, that was kinda ugly for us.

Offensively, we did fairly well there too, even with no home runs. We took plenty of advantage to let the Sneaky Feet do their magic on the bases. We had triples from Eric and Andrew, and several "real" doubles (i.e. not from overthrows). Anders almost caved in the chest of the Turkey shortstop in the third inning with a line drive, but made it to base when the fielder dropped the ball. RBIs were earned by KarenC, Steve, Pat, Rob, Jes, Eric (2), Fabian (2), Andrew (2), BobG (2), and Anders.

Our next game will be some time next April. Expect emails in March about who wants to play and how much the player fees will be. Until then, nobody get hurt! (Or, if you're going to get hurt in the off-season, make sure you're back in playing shape by April!)

See ya!

Karen :)
